Dr. Theresa Mkandawire is an Associate Professor and a Registered Engineer, at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences. She has over 20 years of experience offering a breadth of skills in technical leadership, programme development and capacity building. Dr Mkandawire has experience in managing projects targeted at low-income countries for different development partners. She has been effectively managing large donor-financed projects with budgets of up to £7 million. She has demonstrated expertise in mid-term and end-of-project reviews, policy reviews and development in water and sanitation. She has also undertaken extensive research in water and sanitation. Dr. Mkandawire is a Founding Member of Women in Engineering in Malawi and has been supporting and motivating girls and boys in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Theresa served as the first Vice President of Malawi Institution of Engineers, Malawi’s first female Engineering Dean and is currently the Africa Engineering Deans Council Secretary-General.
