New Implementation in Malawi Could Potentially Save More Lives
On 30 January 2024, the IMPALA project launched a novel way to monitor children in Malawi. We have developed a potentially life saving algorithm that can predict critical illness allowing timely interventions to prevent deterioration. We started a PILOT study in Zomba Central hospital to evaluate the performance of this score in addition to normal monitoring. We hope our IMPALA 3.0 monitoring platform with integrated IC-Len score can save even more children than the 59% reduction we saw with the previous IMPALA 2.0 monitor.
